چکیده

In Broadcast and Multicast Services (BCMCS) for CDMA2000 networks, Reed–Solomon (RS) coding is applied to the layers above the turbo code. An additional block interleaving mechanism improves the performance of RS coding when there are long bursts of errors. We propose a performance model of RS coding for varying conditions of Rayleigh fading on the broadcast channel with the maximum amount of block interleaving, and verify this analytic model by comparing its results with a simulation. Evaluating the quality of the resulting MPEG-4 FGS (fine granular scalability) video demonstrates the effectiveness of RS coding in achieving high perceived video quality. 2008 Elsevier B.V. A Concealment Aware UEP Scheme for H.264 using RS Codes

H.264/AVCis currently the most widely adopted video coding standard due to its high compression capability and flexibility. However, compressed videos are highly vulnerable to channel errors which may result in severe quality degradation of a video. This paper presentsa concealment aware Unequal Error Protection (UEP) scheme for H.264 video compression using Reed Solomon (RS) codes. The propose...

A New Unequal Error Protection Technique Based on the Mutual Information of the MPEG-4 Video Frames over Wireless Networks

The performance of video transmission over wireless channels is limited by the channel noise. Thus many error resilience tools have been incorporated into the MPEG-4 video compression method. In addition to these tools, the unequal error protection (UEP) technique has been proposed to protect the different parts in an MPEG-4 video packet with different channel coding rates based on the rate...

FEC-Based Wireless Video Streaming with Pre-Interleaving

Wireless video streaming is a challenging task due to limited bandwidth and error-prone characteristics of the wireless channels. In order to ensure high quality wireless video streaming, error control techniques such as forward error correction (FEC) is needed. It is well-known that, in mobile radio channels, errors are not limited to single bit errors but tend to occur in bursts. In order to ...
